Someone posed this frequently-asked question on the Start TODAY group yesterday: "How many steps should I walk per day?"
There are a few ways you can look at it. If you can log 10,000 steps a day, great — go for it! But for those who feel discouraged when they're unable to hit that magic number, a recent study may provide some welcome news. The research showed that elderly women who took about 4,400 steps a day had a lower risk of dying in the next several years than those who were the most sedentary. And walking intensity didn’t make a difference: When two people took the same number of steps per day, but one stepped slower and the other faster, it didn’t seem to matter.
