A college student is in custody after his roommate was killed in their residence hall, police say. 

Purdue University student Ji Min “Jimmy” Sha, 22, is in custody after calling 911 at 12:44 a.m. yesterday to report the death of his roommate, Varun Manish Chheda, 20, which is being investigated as a homicide at the university in Indiana, police said. Sha has been charged with murder, according to jail records. Chheda died of "multiple sharp force traumatic injuries," and the manner of death was a homicide, according to preliminary autopsy results.

🤰 Hilary Swank is pregnant with twins at 48.

A representative for Oscar-winning actor Hilary Swank confirmed to NBC News yesterday that the 48-year-old “Alaska Daily” star is pregnant with twins with her husband, Philip Schneider. The couple have been married for four years, and the twins will be their first children together. 

A parenting columnist says adults shouldn’t high-five kids. Yes, really.

Many parents and mental health experts are up in arms — and not to give high-fives —  over an opinion article in the Omaha World-Herald by parenting columnist John Rosemond. He writes that he “will not slap the upraised palm of a person who is not my peer,” and that a high-five by a child to a parent “is not compatible with respect.” Parents and psychologists gave their reaction to us over the viral article, saying a high-five “provides a child with a sense of competent achievement and allows them to understand where to direct their efforts during future tasks.” Rosemond, 74, also spoke to us about the wave of negative backlash he’s gotten from the story.
