Florida officials push back on accusations that a county where more than 50 people died waited too long to issue an evacuation order ahead of Hurricane Ian, and police are searching for a possible serial killer in California. Plus, the wild scene at a fishing tournament after a team of anglers is accused of stuffing fish with lead balls to win first prize.

Hurricane Ian's death toll reaches 100 as a Florida official defends a hard-hit county over delayed evacuations. 

The death toll from Hurricane Ian reached 100 yesterday as Florida's top emergency administrator pushed back against criticism of officials in hard-hit Lee County over accusations of being too slow to evacuate ahead of the storm. Out of the 96 confirmed deaths in Florida, 54 of them were in Lee County, where officials didn't order evacuations until Sept. 27, one day before the storm hit. Other areas ordered evacuations a day or two earlier. “I believe Lee County and their administration ... made the best decision they felt was right for their community at that time," said Kevin Guthrie, the director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. "And I will never second-guess a local emergency manager on their decision.”

A series of deadly, after-dark shootings in a city in California could be a serial killer, police say. 

Police in Stockton, California, are searching for a person of interest they say may be involved in five fatal shootings that have occurred there since July. Grainy security video showed a person police believe could be a suspect or a witness, and it was possible there was more than one shooter. All off the slayings happened after dark and in shaded areas with few security cameras. The victims were all men, and the latest attack happened last week. Up to $85,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. “Be alert,” Stockton's police chief said. “Have your head on a swivel.”

🐟 Awfully fishy: A team of tournament fishermen is accused of cheating by stuffing their fish with lead weights.

"We got weights in fish!" The world of competitive fishing is in a frenzy after two fishermen were accused of using lead balls to make their fish heavier in order to win a tournament in Cleveland. A wild scene caught on video and shared on TikTok shows the tournament director slicing open walleye fish to reveal the weights inside, as irate fellow competitors yell expletives at the accused anglers. The two men would've walked away with $30,000 for winning the tournament but instead were disqualified and are now being investigated by Ohio's Department of Natural Resources.

Her practical tips are helpful for anyone who struggles to keep their dishwasher organized — but one moment seemed to blow social media's mind. After loading some wine glasses (the scourge of dishwasher neatniks everywhere), Babs demonstrated how to lower the top shelf in order to make room for the stems. Many viewers seemed stunned by the move. "I was today years old when I realized the top shelf in the dishwasher can be lowered," one person wrote.
