But, all it takes to communicate that you want to be friendly and engage in conversation, according to some advocates for people with disabilities, is to make eye contact and say one simple word: hello.
“The most critical piece of advice I can give is to break through the awkwardness,” said a dad whose son has cerebral palsy.
