Why do we devote so much energy to finding a good parking spot? We’re obsessed even when the weather is nice and walking a short distance would be good for our health. For some of us, it’s a habit — and finding a good spot gives you a sense of accomplishment.
Well, here’s a better way to do it: Pick a row and park in the first vacant spot you come across. You’ll get to the store quicker and have more time for shopping. And if the lot is totally packed, just sit and wait for someone to come out of the store and vacate a spot. Don’t bother driving around — you’re just wasting gas and energy! |

Even when we know people’s names, why do we go for days without using them? By using someone’s name, you help them feel seen and acknowledged — and that’s an act of kindness. According to kindness.org’s research in collaboration with the University of Oxford, doing a kind act increases happiness, well-being, trust and compassion. And it can have the same powerful effect on those who receive the act. Try it, and put a smile on both your faces. |

Happy Thanksgiving! Whatever you’re doing today, we hope that you’re spending time with your loved ones. And, well, if there’s more tension than thanks at your gathering today, just take a hike — literally. The best solution may be to grab your relatives and go for a walk together outside.
Strolling for 20 minutes in a natural setting restores people’s attention and leads to a greater sense of family togetherness and closeness, a small study published in the journal Children, Youth and Environments found. Click the link below to learn why a walk might be your best bet for family bonding. |
