Eminem is a grandfather!
The rapper's daughter Hailie Jade Mathers announced April 4 that she and husband Evan McClintock welcomed their first child last month — and the baby's name honors his Grammy-winning grandpa.
Mathers posted a photo of her newborn son wearing a knitted mint blue hoodie on Instagram. A sign announcing the baby's full name, Elliot Marshall McClintock, and his date of birth — March 14, 2025 — stands just behind him.
Fans were quick to note that baby Elliot's middle name is a tribute to Eminem, 52, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III.
"His middle name I'm crying. He’s so precious," wrote one.
Elliot's arrival comes a little less than a year after Mathers and McClintock tied the knot in May 2024. The couple announced their engagement in February 2023 after several years of dating.
In October 2024, Eminem hinted that he was about to become a grandfather when he released a music video for his single “Temporary.” One of the video's scenes shows the rap legend's daughter, whose mother is Eminem's ex-wife Kim Scott, giving him a jersey with “Grandpa” and a "No. 1" written on the back.
The video also includes home footage of the father-daughter duo over the years.
Mathers followed up on her dad’s video by posting a photo of her holding a sonogram as she embraced McClintock. She captioned the image, “Mom & dad est. 2025.”
She revealed her baby’s gender during the Oct. 11 episode of her podcast, “Just A Little Shady,” and also shared the sweet story of how she told her dad.
She explained that she gave Eminem the “grandpa” jersey wrapped up as a gift.
“He was first concerned, because he’s like, ‘Well, I didn’t get you a gift,’” she recalled. “And freaked out for a couple minutes. He’s like, ‘We’re supposed to get each other gifts?’ I’m like, ‘No, no, it’s just for the football season.’”
After unwrapping the jersey, Eminem was even more confused. Mathers recalled that when he saw the word “grandpa,” the rapper thought he was being teased as being old. But after his daughter handed him a sonogram image, it all clicked and he was ecstatic.
“I pulled out the ultrasound picture, and he was like, ‘Wait, this is real. Like, this is happening.’”
