Guy Fieri’s younger son Ryder is officially a high school graduate!
The “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” host posted several photos from his son Ryder’s high school graduation on Instagram.
In the first photo, Fieri posed alongside his wife, Lori Fieri, and their two sons Hunter, 27, and Ryder, 18. The Food Network star also shared a solo snap of Ryder among his classmates donning his cap and gown in the stands as well as a selfie posing with his son in the last slide.
“So proud of @_ryderfieri,” Fieri wrote in the caption. “Wow what a great high school career!! 3.7 GPA, basketball for 4 years and lacrosse senior year Love you son!”
Guy and Lori Fieri have been married since 1995. The couple share two sons: Hunter, born in 1996, and Ryder, born in 2005. Following the death of his sister Morgan in 2011, Guy and Lori Fieri took in Morgan's son Jules and raised him as their own.
The TV personality’s family has been a fixture across his long list of shows. His wife and sons have been featured on several programs, including Food Network’s “Guy’s Family Road Trip” and “Guy’s All-American Road Trip” in addition to his Discovery+ series, “Guy! Hawaiian Style.”
In a September 2022 interview with People, Fieri cited his family as his inspiration for his lifestyle changes and new healthy habits.
“I’ve changed my lifestyle in the last couple years — what I eat, when I eat, how I eat. I don’t want to be one of those guys that burns up through the tunnel,” he explained. “I’m in better shape now than I was when I was 30. I don’t want to die young. I want to be around for my kids. I want to be around for Hunter and Ryder’s kids.”
Fieri is among the cohort of celebrities, including Marie Osmond and Elton John, who have publicly shared that their children won’t be inheriting their wealth.
“I’ve told them the same thing my dad told me. My dad says, ‘When I die, you can expect that I’m going to die broke, and you’re going to be paying for the funeral,” Fieri explained to Fox News in December 2023. “And I told my boys, ‘None of this that I’ve been building are you going to get unless you come and take it from me.’”
In Fieri’s case, he said his kids must meet his specific educational requirements to reap the benefits of his hard work.
“Shaq said it best. Shaq said, ‘If you want this cheese, you got to get two degrees.’ Well, my two degrees mean, you know, postgraduate,” he explained.
Here’s everything to know about Guy Fieri’s sons Hunter and Ryder.
Hunter Fieri, 27
Guy and Lori Fieri welcomed their first child together, son Hunter, on Aug. 13, 1996.
Growing up, Hunter — who affectionately refers to himself as the Prince of Flavortown in his Instagram bio — played sports in middle school and high school, including basketball and soccer, Delish reported. However, he also followed in his dad’s footsteps and fell in love with cooking.
He worked at two of his father’s chain restaurants, including Johnny Garlic’s and Tex Wasabi’s. While in high school, he also started his own mobile pizza business, Kulinary Gangstas, and ran it with a friend for two years.
“I didn’t really like anything else,” Hunter told the publication at the time. “I liked to be outside, and I liked construction and what not, but cooking is what it is. It’s what I do. It’s what we all do.”
Hunter graduated high school in 2015 and went on to attend college at his dad’s alma mater, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, for the school’s hospitality program. In college, he was able to intern for Caesars Entertainment group, which includes restaurants from Bobby Flay and Gordon Ramsay.
“I want to follow in the same path because I feel like I can kill it with that. I want it all,” Hunter said of his career path. “I want to open my own restaurants — to have things that I created and things my dad created and run this empire.”
In a February 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fieri shared an update about his older son’s education, telling the outlet that Hunter was studying for his master’s degree at the University of Miami.
In the interview, he doubled down on his sentiment about not passing on his fortune to his children unless they met his educational standards, noting that he believes that his kids will follow through on their end of the deal.
“I told them, if these guys want it, they gotta give me two degrees,” he said. “Two post-grad and then they can go after it. But they’re gonna run this show. I will be out folks.”
However, Hunter shared his doubts about his dad ever retiring in the future, telling the outlet, “I know for a fact you are never leaving, okay? And you’re never gonna retire, you know that? I know you.”
According to his Instagram bio, Hunter is part of the Knuckle Sandwich, LLC team, which is behind Fieri’s food and beverage empire, per his website bio. He plays a role in the Hunt & Ryde Winery, which was named after him and his younger brother. Hunter was also featured in a mini-documentary “What Plants Can Do” that was released in November 2021.
He called his dad the “best father” in an Instagram for his dad’s 56th birthday in January, sharing a couple of snaps of the father-son duo. He continued the sweet caption, adding, “You’re an inspiration to us all. I’m so blessed and so thankful for what you do for our family.”
As for his personal life, Hunter got engaged to his girlfriend Tara Bernstein in November 2023. Fieri celebrated the moment in his son’s life on Instagram, sharing a photo of the couple alongside the caption, “You two are made for each other. Welcome to the family, Tara.”
Ryder Fieri, 18
Guy and Lori Fieri welcomed their second child together, son Ryder, on Dec. 31, 2005.
Much like his older brother, Ryder played sports growing up, including basketball all four years of high school and lacrosse his senior year. He was trained by fitness professional Scott Butler since he was a kid before Fieri began working out with him several times a week.
Similar to his philosophy about his sons’ inheritance, Fieri set rules about their first cars too.
“Show me that you can spend a year driving the car, not getting any dents, not getting any wrecks, not getting any tickets,” he told People in September 2022. “Prove that you’ve got it all together. Then you can take your own money out of the bank and go buy a car.”
Fieri also shared that his younger son’s first car was used, revealing it was his “parents’ old, used, 259,000-mile Chrysler minivan.”
During high school, Ryder experienced several milestone moments, including prom. In April 2023, he shared photos of himself posing with his date on his Instagram. He also shared his senior prom pictures on Instagram, captioning the snaps “Last one.”
Fieri also celebrated his son’s accomplishments in April, including being a finalist of the youth service award. He shared a snap posing with his wife and two sons on Instagram, as well as a couple of snaps from the ceremony.
“So proud of @_ryderfieri!! He was a finalist for the youth service award for 2024,” Fieri wrote. “Congratulations to all the students chosen for their hard work and dedication to serving and supporting their community.”
Ryder graduated from high school in June with a 3.7 GPA. Though Fieri told People that his son “got into every school” he applied to, Ryder plans on attending San Diego State University in the fall of 2024 to study hospitality, like his older brother.
“Ryder’s super excited,” Fieri said. “He had to do it on his own merit. He had to go down, he had to do the walk-throughs at the school.”
As a father-son duo along with his older brother, Ryder has gotten to spend plenty of time with his dad, including at the NBA All-Star Game in February and the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Championship in April.
In December, Fieri shared a touching video tribute on Instagram for his son's 18th birthday.
“It’s a special day up here at the ranch: Ryder’s birthday,” he said. “And I’ll tell you what, son, I couldn’t be more proud of you. You’re an amazing person. You are your own man. You’re an individual, great athlete, great student, great friend, great son. You make me so proud. Happy 18th birthday.”
