Chef notes

Growing up in our house, we always called it “kabasi.” It wasn’t until I was older I learned how to say it correctly. My mom served it with mac and cheese and some apple sauce. It was literally the definition of a quick weeknight meal. When I worked in Boston, there was a restaurant that served kielbasa as an appetizer, grilled with a simple sauce. I re-created the sauce at home, and it’s now the easiest possible recipe you can serve at a barbecue. It’s salty and crispy with a sweet honey mustard sauce. Stick a few toothpicks in and your guests will be so happy! My kids all love it … it’s like a fancy hot dog!
