When Josh Williams tweeted a photo of his takeout order from Chipotle earlier this week, he had no idea he'd be cooking up a controversy.
The photo shows ingredients for soft tacos, including shredded cheese, guacamole and salsa in separate plastic containers above tortillas wrapped in tin foil, along with the caption, "Started asking the folks at Chipotle to individually package my ingredients so I can assemble it all at home. Am I weird? Or brilliant?"
The July 2 tweet has drawn more than 1,400 comments and 1,300 retweets. Some objected to the packaging waste, while others felt he'd annoyed the line staff at the burrito chain.

Williams, a 37-year-old graphic designer and father of three, told TODAY Food he came up with the idea after his wife had suggested on a previous visit that they order the salsas on the side so the food stays warm on the drive home; the family lives about 45 minutes away from the nearest Chipotle. He responded to suggestions that he should have gone to a grocery store and bought ingredients with assertion that it was late on a Sunday and past when stores had closed in California's Napa Valley, where he lives.
Plus, who doesn't just want some Chipotle sometimes?
"My friends know I love Chipotle so I thought the tweet was funny — could never have imagined the response," Williams told TODAY via email. "The best reaction I've seen (that's repeatable) is: 'You're the reason guacamole costs $2!'"
It's a bit nicer than being told he's the "spawn of Satan."
Williams hasn't gotten any response from Chipotle but worries "they may never want to see me again!"
